UK CBT supported the 12th P2P Financial Systems International Workshop, held on 9 and 10 June 2026 at the National Bank of Kazakhstan in Astana.

The workshop brought together central bankers, regulators, researchers and industry leaders. Sessions examined Kazakhstan’s payment infrastructure and digital identity programme, institutional asset tokenisation, Alatau Crypto City, the effect of digital assets on global payments, AI in financial systems, data governance and open banking.

Paolo Tasca welcomed the international community, while speakers from central banks, the Astana International Financial Centre, Mastercard, Binance Kazakhstan and academia connected national infrastructure projects with the wider digital-finance agenda.

UK CBT’s support helped bring international research and policy perspectives into a programme focused on practical financial-system development.
