The UK Centre for Blockchain Technologies (UK CBT) participated in the London Blockchain Conference, which brought together more than 4,000 attendees over two days. UK CBT Deputy Director Dr. Francesco Pierangeli took part in two main stage sessions addressing key developments in blockchain regulation and financial innovation.

The first session examined policymaker mindsets and digital-asset regulation, building on a collaborative research project with IE University Madrid and Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The discussion focused on how global policymakers approach digital-asset frameworks.

The second panel, titled ‘DeFi Meets TradFi: Where the Rails Are Merging,’ explored the growing convergence between decentralised and traditional financial systems.

The conference highlighted the depth of the UK’s blockchain ecosystem, with strong participation from academic, policy, and industry leaders, as well as students from the University of Birmingham FinTech Society and Birmingham Business School.

The presence of UK CBT and Exponential Science throughout the event underscored the UK’s continuing leadership in blockchain research, innovation, and regulation.
