UK CBT Attends the Launch of the FGV Centre for Digital Finance

The UK Centre for Blockchain Technologies was proud to participate in the launch of the FGV Fundação Getulio Vargas Centre for Digital Finance, marking an important moment for Brazil’s digital finance landscape. The event brought together a full house in São Paulo and a strong line up of academic, industry, and policy voices looking to shape the direction of responsible innovation.
Dr. Francesco Pierangeli, Deputy Director of UK CBT, joined Jéfferson A Colombo, Marcos Simplicio, and Maria Isabel Carvalho Sica Longhi on the panel ‘From Evidence to Innovation.’ Dr. Pierangeli shared UK CBT’s current research insights and policy engagement experience, alongside valuable perspectives from Fabio Araujo of Banco Central do Brasil and other contributors.
A clear theme emerged throughout the discussions. Brazil and the United Kingdom are progressing along closely aligned paths, with committed regulators, active research communities, and a shared interest in advancing secure and scalable financial innovation. The growing collaboration between FGV, USP, and UK CBT sets a strong foundation for the next phase of UBRI and for deeper academic cooperation.
The UK CBT is grateful to the FGV faculty for their warm welcome and to Ripple for its continued support of this global academic network. The momentum from this launch signals a promising period ahead for research driven digital finance development in Brazil and beyond.
